St. Thérèse the Little Flower Apostolate

Historical Background

The St. Therese the Little Flower Apostolate began as a deeply personal spiritual journey. For 21 years, the initiator, Ms. Marie J. Kembabazi, lived this mission as a private devotion. She dedicated her life to praying for the sanctification of priests, the promotion of vocations, and acts of reparation.

Founding Body and Patrons

Seeking to expand this mission, Ms. Kembabazi shared her vision with fellow Christians within the Kampala Archdiocese. These Christians immediately embraced the idea, forming the founding body:

  • Ms. Marie J. Kembabazi (Initiator)
  • Ms. Natalia Atalo
  • Ms. Patricia Atukunda
  • Mr. Denis Romano Tibenderana (Kanyindo)
  • Mrs. Jane Nyanzi
  • Ms. Margaret Nyangweso
  • Ms. Gaudy Kiconco
  • Mrs. Claire Akun Ntwali
  • Mr. Richard Othieno
  • Mr. Charles Ssentamu

This founding body models its mission on spiritual parenthood, acting as spiritual mothers and fathers for priests. They embrace the official Apostolate Mission: "Living a hidden Vocation through the Little Way for the Sanctification of Priests and Vocations."

They entrust their work to three heavenly Patrons:

Our Lady of Sorrows: The ultimate model of spiritual motherhood.

St. Therese of the Little Flower: Who dedicated her cloistered life to the holiness of priests.

St. John Mary Vianney: The patron saint of parish priests.

Membership

St. Therese the Little Apostolate is composed of the Lay faithful and Consecrated members (Religious men and women) who are in full communion with the Church.

Parish Acceptance and Appreciation

The Apostolate extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Joseph Ssemanda Balikuddembe of St. Peter's Catholic Parish Nsambya, for granting the Apostolate its maiden launch. St. Peter's Nsambya Parish, located in the heart of the city and in Kampala Archdiocese, has become the main Location of the Apostolate.

The weekly Eucharistic Adoration Cenacle begins with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and the Eucharistic Adoration cenacle follows immediately where members pray for priests with Our Lady's Rosary, Stations of the Cross and Reparation for two hours. This cenacle has also become a precious time for priests, who frequently join the Apostolate in prayer.
